Extraordinary exhibition of the spanish painter Domingo Millán

To San Francisco arrives the pictorial work in the period 1985-89 of the Valencian painter Domingo Millán with a long residence in Barcelona and with the work arrives the artist who will be visiting us on the very day of the exhibition opening at the seat of San Francxisco’s Museum of Contemporary Hispanic Art at the California’s Spanish Union –Cultural Center- (2850 Alemany Blvd) to remain there from October 6th to November 6th.

Millán’s work is enrolled within the new imagination which characterises the present European painting but with symbolism added the author used from his origin, he is a deep scholar of symbols, mhitology, occult sciences, religions, etc., these things giving him a great knowledge of the subject.

Domingo Millán is well know in the artistic Catalonia, cradle or residence place of the great three master of XX century: Picasso, Miró and Dalí. With the two first, millán exhibited at the Barcelona’s Sala Gaspar (Gaspar’s were merchants of Picasso and Miró) and from that time on it can be said a new stage in his artistic life begins.

The artist is also a poet and writer and a real master in graphic arts, practically he uses all the specialities and limited editions were launched by him together with excellent writers and reputed publishers.

Domingo Millán is the one of the Spanish art personalities travelling out into the world with exhibitions in very many countries: Europe to the proper Australia.

Jointly regarded, the Millán’s work –this is how it must be seen as indicated by Mr Raúl Oyuela, Museum’s director in the introduction of the catalogue – is showing peculiar characteristics comparable to the synthesis used by the genial Miró along his artistic life, although in principle many people did not perceive the comparison assertion, as millán is not enrolled in the treand of the great artist, but certainly however it can be seen Domingo Millán is going some how synthetizing his symbols –present always along all his work- until leading into a primitive, naiveness and deeply symbolic neo-imagination that has nothing to do with te naif art as some authors might be presuming.

In conclusion, let us say Domingo Millán exhibits works at diverse museums of the world and that the Library of Master Painters and Catalonia Sculpture has issued a monography of the artist together with the great master already named and of over one hundred great painters and sculptors of the profilic Catalonia.
